McKinney North VB News
A number of your 2024-25 McKinney North Lady Bulldogs were honored with prestigious superlative awards following an amazing season that ended with a playoff run all the way to the state finals.
The Texas Girls Coaches Association recognizes outstanding athletes across the state. Three McKinney North players made the TGCA’s 2024 list: junior libero Gabi Rodriguez, junior outside hitter Allyn Brewer, and junior middle blocker Chloe Lewis all made the All-State team. Gabi also made the red All-Star team. Coach Libby Rodriguez was honored by being named assistant coach to the red All-Star team. The All Star game is slated to be played July 16 at Arlington Seguin High School.
GM Sports Media is a sports media company that highlights top talent in the DFW metroplex. In conjunction with 411VB.com, which aims to provide comprehensive coverage of club and high school volleyball in DFW and all of North Texas, GM Sports Media published a list of player superlatives. Junior libero Gabi Rodriguez (937 digs, 108 assists, 36 aces) was named DFW defensive player of the year, notching a state record 43 digs in the state championship match. Junior outside hitter Allyn Brewer (478 kills, 455 digs, 97 aces) was named DFW offensive player of the year. These awards, voted on by 5A volleyball coaches, shows the respect other teams have for what McKinney North accomplished in 2024.
McKinney North also claimed a number of superlatives for the All District 9-5A team, a notable accomplishment in a district that’s also home to powerhouses Lovejoy, Melissa, and Prosper Walnut Grove. Junior libero Gabi Rodriguez, junior outside hitter Allyn Brewer, junior middle blocker Chloe Lewis, and junior middle hitter Kaitlyn Jefferson all made the first team, while senior middle hitter Ayanna Moore and freshman outside hitter Anna Sayman were named to the second team. Junior stter Jordan Kowallis was an honorable mention.

Congratulations, Seniors
The McKinney North Lady Bulldogs say goodbye this fall to two graduating seniors. Hitter Madi Trayler (L) plans to pursue a degree in nursing, while hitter Ayanna Moore (R) plans to attend college and study kinesiology. Both were honored at the last McKinney home game with flowers and ginormous gift baskets presented by their volleyball underclassman sisters.
